Charles E. Lee is a film composer, pianist, and songwriter with wide variety of experience in the music and film industries.
Having earned Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in classical piano performance, Lee worked extensively in the music industry serving as the assistant to acclaimed Nashville Symphony Pops conductor and composer, Ronn Huff, working with a diverse array of artists including Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Trisha Yearwood, Vince Gill, Shania Twain, Emmylou Harris, and Alison Krauss. One of Lee’s earliest film experiences was working with Huff on Vanessa Williams’ adult contemporary version of "Colors of the Wind" from the Disney animated film Pocahontas.
After many years of working as a professional musician in Nashville, Lee shifted his focus to writing music for film. His study of film took him to Los Angeles where he was able to hone his composition skills for film and television music under the tutelage of several leading composers including Robert Drasnin (The Kremlin Letter, Twilight Zone, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Mission Impossible) and Michael Giacchino (Academy Award winning composer for Up). Lee’s work in Los Angeles culminated in his receiving UCLA’s BMI/Jerry Goldsmith Film Scoring Award. Legendary film composer Jerry Goldsmith (Academy Award winner for The Omen) personally chose Mr. Lee's compositions for recognition from among 200 international composers.
Most recently, Lee continues to write and compose, including original scores for the films Awakened and Take A Chance.
